Singapore’s whisky scene is flourishing, with an ever-expanding whisky community and a ripe crop of dedicated bars like The Writing Club, Room for More, and The ExciseMan opening up over the last year or so. With both connoisseurs and casual tipplers taking to the golden nectar in ever more adventurous ways, there’s plenty of thirst for events like Whisky Live Singapore 2019 that’s happening the weekend of 9-10 November 2019.
Organised by La Maison du Whisky, Southeast Asia’s premier whisky extravaganza celebrates its big 10th anniversary this November with a renewed commitment to elevating drinkers’ appreciation for whisky. For old and new devotees of the spirit alike, Whisky Live 2019 promises a free flow of fine spirits and great conversations.
A World Of Whiskies To Discover
It’s a veritable atlas of liquor at this year’s showcase, with more than 600 whisky and spirit expressions to be discovered and savoured. Over at the Tasting Hall and Spirits Room, award-winning favourites such as Kavalan, Blanton’s, Old Pulteney, Nikka, and Teeling will make their return with premium drams of liquid gold. You can also look forward to a stellar showing of rums and gins, including Clairin – the rustic Haitian distillate that’s taking the rum world by storm – and Japan’s first craft gin Ki No Bi Gin.
The popular Collector’s Room will house a superb curation of rare whiskies from La Maison du Whisky’s private collection, including untraceable bottles distilled in the 60s and 70s. True-blue connoisseurs will want to linger in the VIP Area, a whisky wonderland of over 100 prestigious, new, and limited-edition releases. And in between sipping your whisky neat, head over to the Cocktail Terrace, where four of our region’s world-class bars will be whisking up their signature cocktails in rotating shifts.
Masterclasses By Industry Experts
With workshops run by some of the whisky world’s best brains, there’s lots to quench a budding connoisseur’s thirst for knowledge. The Masterclasses Rooms will see a slew of small-group masterclasses hosted by whisky experts, Master Distillers, and Directors of distilleries. These spirit maestros will be sharing their manufacturing secrets and industry know-how through educational tastings.
Meanwhile, the Cocktail Masterclass Rooms will get you unpacking the potential of this diverse spirit, with bartending demonstrations and cocktail-making techniques from renowned mixologists.
If any new drams tickle your palate in the Tasting Hall and Spirits Room, stop by La Boutique to bring home a bottle or ten. This pop-up by La Maison du Whisky will stock quite the arsenal of fine whiskies – over 900 bottles, including a choice selection of rare and limited expressions. To sweeten the deal, all purchases at La Boutique will be at 10% off the usual retail price.
